Manchester Events and Nightlife
Manchester’s legendary musical heritage is still the very heartbeat of the city. Live music is a touchstone of Manchester nightlife, from the 19,500 capacity MEN Arena – largest of its kind in Europe – to the city’s more intimate venues, like The Roadhouse in the Northern Quarter. Most of Manchester’s iconic bands paid their dues on the local live circuit and it’s still a great place to hear new music. The Manchester Academy, attached to the University of Manchester, is another top venue for live music. It’s also worth keeping your ear to the ground for the city’s regular live music festivals. But you can’t visit Manchester without sampling some of the city’s nightclubs. While the legendary Haçienda may have long since closed its doors, club culture lives on at places like Sankeys and Music Box, which attract big name DJ’s and clubbers from all over the world.
